Bunion Surgery
We perform minimally invasive bunion surgery during outpatient visits at our state-of-the-art surgical suite. This eliminates the expense and inconvenience of going to the hospital. Our surgical suite features:
- Convenience
- Less cost than a hospital
- Inhouse x-rays
- Complete sterility
- Full surgical theater
- CT fluoroscopy machine
We make tiny incisions during minimally invasive bunion surgery, so the procedure requires less healing time and leaves minimal scarring. Treatment is performed under local anesthetic and has lower morbidity than conventional open surgery.
Some surgeries may still need to be done at a hospital. But we routinely perform bunion treatment in our minimally invasive surgery suite at our office.
A bunion is an enlargement of the base joint of the toe that may be formed of swollen tissue or bony growth. It is caused by the shifting of the bones in the big toe inward toward the other toes of the foot. The area around the base of the big toe may become inflamed, red, and painful.
For cases that do not respond to other treatment methods, we can do minimally invasive surgery to reposition the toe by taking out a section of bone or rearranging the ligaments and tendons in the toe to help keep it properly aligned.
